BendPak MDS-6LP β 6,000 lb ALI Certified Mid-Rise Open-Center Scissor Lift
The BendPak MDS-6LP is a heavy-duty 6,000 lb mid-rise open-center scissor lift designed to give shops and serious home garages fast, level lifting for tire, brake, suspension, and undercar work. With a compact footprint, 5″ lowered height, and up to about 44″ of lift (around 46″ with rubber blocks), it delivers professional performance without the space demands of a full-rise two-post lift.
Open-Center Mid-Rise Design
The open-center layout of the MDS-6LP keeps the middle of the lift clear between the platforms, giving you better access to exhaust, driveline components, and underbody areas compared to many solid-deck mid-rise lifts. Vehicles drive up the approach ramps onto long 19″ Γ 67″ platforms, which can be adjusted to suit different track widths.
- Open-center design for improved access to undercar components.
- Ideal for tire, brake, suspension, exhaust, and quick undercar service.
- Compact mid-rise footprint works well in both professional bays and home garages.
- Extended lift point spread lets you handle a wide range of wheelbases within rating.
6,000 lb Capacity & Comfortable Working Height
Rated at 6,000 lbs, the MDS-6LP is engineered to lift many passenger cars, crossovers, and light trucks within its capacity when properly positioned. A low 5″ lowered height helps with lower vehicles, while a 44″ lifting height (about 46″ with blocks) provides a comfortable working height for wheel and undercar service.
- 6,000 lb lifting capacity for many cars, SUVs, and light trucks within spec.
- Lowered height: 5″ to help accommodate lower-clearance vehicles.
- Lifting height: 44″ at the platforms, approximately 46″ with blocks.
- Three locking positions so you can choose the working height that fits the job.
Full-Length Platforms & Rubber Contact Blocks
The lift includes long, steel platforms topped with durable rubber contact blocks to help protect underbody surfaces and keep vehicles stable during service. The platform spacing is adjustable so you can align the lift with different vehicle track widths.
- Lift platform dimensions: 19″ Γ 67″ (each platform).
- Width between platforms: adjustable from about 40″ to 46″.
- Four cushioned rubber contact blocks included for fast vehicle setup.
- Powder-coated finish for a durable, professional appearance.
Four Hydraulic Cylinders & Level Lifting
The MDS-6LP uses a robust hydraulic system designed to keep both platforms lifting level. Dual master hydraulic cylinders work together with dual equalizing cylinders, and a proprietary flow-divider setup helps maintain even movement side to side.
- Four hydraulic cylinders for smooth, level raising and lowering.
- Dual master plus dual equalizing cylinders support the full 6,000 lb capacity.
- Solid steel scissor frame support bars add strength and stability.
- Heavy-duty hinge points with Zerk grease fittings for long service life.
Push-Button Pneumatic Safety Lock Release
Instead of pulling manual lock levers, the MDS-6LP uses stainless-steel pneumatic cylinders to release the safety locks. With a minimum air supply of about 50 psi at 10 CFM connected at installation, you can release the locks with a simple push of a button at the control station.
- Solid-steel safety lock bars automatically engage as the lift rises.
- Push-button safety lock release operated from a safe distance.
- Pneumatic cylinders simultaneously release both sides for level lowering.
- Requires an air source of approximately 50 psi / 10 CFM for lock release function.
ALI Certified Mid-Rise Lift
The MDS-6LP is part of BendPakβs ALI certified mid-rise series, tested and evaluated to recognized industry standards when installed and operated correctly. For shops that care about compliance, this helps provide added confidence in their lifting equipment.
- ALI certified mid-rise scissor lift model (MDS-6 series).
- Designed for professional service environments and serious home users.
- Supported by BendPakβs published manuals, decals, and safety documentation.
Power & Performance
A dedicated 208β230V single-phase electric-hydraulic power unit raises the lift to full height in about 35 seconds, depending on load and conditions. For best performance and safety, the power unit should be wired to a properly sized dedicated circuit by a qualified electrician.
- Motor: approx. 208β230 VAC, 60 Hz, single phase.
- Lifting time: around 35 seconds to full rise.
- Electric-hydraulic operation for controlled lifting and lowering.
- Requires a dedicated circuit sized to the power unit per local electrical code.
Who the BendPak MDS-6LP Is For
- Shops needing a dedicated wheel, brake, and quick-service bay in a compact footprint.
- General repair facilities adding a mid-rise lift where a full-rise unit is not practical.
- Serious home enthusiasts who want professional mid-rise capability in the garage.
- Detail and appearance shops that want easier underbody and rocker-panel access.

Safety & Installation Guidance
Any automotive lift must be installed and operated correctly to perform safely. This mid-rise scissor lift should be used only on suitable, properly cured concrete and wired according to applicable electrical codes.
- Have installation and initial setup performed or verified by qualified lift technicians.
- Confirm concrete thickness, strength, and condition meet or exceed the manufacturerβs minimum requirements.
- Use a dedicated 208β230V single-phase circuit sized per the power unit specifications, installed by a licensed electrician.
- Install and maintain the required air supply (minimum 50 psi / 10 CFM) for the safety-lock system.
- Always position rubber blocks at approved lifting points and verify solid contact before lifting.
- Raise the lift to a mechanical lock position before working underneath, and use wheel chocks and appropriate PPE at all times.

Installation was a significant job, but now that the lift is fully set up and weβre used to it, Iβm very happy with how it performs every day.
With the anchors fully set, the whole lift feels like itβs tied into the slab and structure. I have complete confidence working underneath it.
The lift itself is excellent. The only annoyance was that the freight truck arrived near the end of an already broad ETA window.
The lift feels incredibly solid in daily use. A couple of assembly steps in the manual were a bit vague, but we figured them out with extra care.
In use, the lift is flawless. The freight communication was fairly bare-bones, but everything still arrived when it was supposed to.
