Our products can involve significant risks, including but not limited to serious injury, death, and property damage, if installed or used improperly.
By purchasing, installing, or using any product from Dunfer, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to this Safety & Installation Disclaimer, and that you accept full responsibility for the safe installation, setup, operation, inspection, and maintenance of all products you purchase.
2. Professional & Qualified Installation Required
Vehicle lifts and other heavy garage equipment must only be installed, assembled, and commissioned by qualified, trained, and appropriately licensed professionals familiar with the specific equipment, local building codes, electrical codes, workplace safety regulations, and best practices.
- Do not attempt to install or modify lifting equipment if you are not a qualified professional.
- Always verify that your installer is properly licensed, insured, and experienced with the type of equipment being installed.
- Follow all manufacturer installation instructions and safety warnings exactly as provided with the product.
Dunfer does not supervise or control third-party installers and is not responsible for their workmanship, methods, or compliance with codes and regulations.
3. Site Conditions & Structural Requirements
Before installation, your site must be evaluated by qualified professionals to confirm that it can safely support the equipment and the loads that will be applied.
- Concrete slabs, anchors, and surrounding structures must meet or exceed the manufacturer’s specified minimum strength, thickness, and design requirements.
- Subsurface conditions, reinforcement, and expansion joints must be assessed by a qualified engineer or contractor.
- Clearances for overhead components, vehicles, doors, and other equipment must be confirmed to prevent contact or entrapment hazards.
All site preparation, including concrete work, structural modifications, and environmental considerations, is the sole responsibility of the property owner and their selected professionals.
4. Electrical, Hydraulic & Mechanical Work
Any electrical, hydraulic, or mechanical connections related to our products must be performed only by licensed professionals in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and manufacturer instructions.
- Use only properly rated electrical circuits, breakers, wiring, and grounding methods specified by the manufacturer and required by local codes.
- Hydraulic and pneumatic systems must be installed and maintained to prevent leaks, pressure failures, or unintended movement.
- Never bypass, disable, or modify safety devices, limit switches, locks, or emergency controls.
Failure to follow proper practices may result in severe injury, death, fire, equipment damage, or loss of warranty.
5. Load Ratings, Capacity & Proper Use
Each product has a specific rated capacity and intended use defined by the manufacturer. Exceeding or misapplying these ratings is extremely dangerous.
- Never exceed the published weight capacity of any lift, accessory, or support device.
- Only use the equipment for vehicles and loads that fall within the manufacturer’s specified range and configuration.
- Do not use the equipment for lifting people, non-vehicle loads, or any purpose not expressly authorized by the manufacturer.
- Use only approved adapters, pads, arms, and attachments designed for the specific lift model.
You are responsible for verifying that the selected equipment is appropriate for your specific vehicles, layout, and intended use.
6. Vehicle Positioning & Operation
Improperly positioned vehicles or incorrect operating procedures can cause tip, collapse, or crushing hazards.
- Vehicle lift points must be identified using the vehicle manufacturer’s recommended lift points and guidelines.
- Center the vehicle and distribute weight evenly according to the lift manufacturer’s instructions.
- Ensure all arms, pads, locks, and safety devices are properly engaged before raising a vehicle.
- Keep all persons clear of moving parts and pinch points while operating the equipment.
- Never allow anyone to stand or pass under a vehicle unless all mechanical locks and safety devices are fully engaged.
7. Inspection, Maintenance & Pre-Use Checks
Regular inspection and maintenance are critical to the safe operation of lifting and garage equipment.
- Perform pre-use checks before each operation, including visual inspection of cables, chains, locks, arms, pads, hoses, and electrical components.
- Follow all manufacturer maintenance schedules, including torque checks, lubrication, adjustments, and replacement of wear components.
- Immediately remove the equipment from service if any unusual noises, movements, visible damage, leaks, or questionable conditions are observed.
- Repairs and adjustments must be performed only by qualified technicians using genuine or manufacturer-approved replacement parts.
Failure to maintain the equipment properly can result in catastrophic failure and serious injury or death.
8. User Training, Procedures & Personal Protective Equipment
All operators and personnel working around lifting equipment must receive appropriate training and follow documented procedures.
- Ensure every user reads and understands the manufacturer’s manuals, warning labels, and safety instructions before operating the equipment.
- Establish clear shop policies for safe vehicle movement, lift operation, lockout/tagout, and restricted access areas.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, steel-toe footwear, gloves, and other gear as required for the task and environment.
- Do not permit untrained or unauthorized individuals to operate or adjust the equipment.
9. Modifications, Alterations & Unauthorized Accessories
Any modification or alteration of the equipment may create serious hazards and void warranties.
- Do not drill, weld, cut, or otherwise modify structural components, columns, arms, or safety devices unless expressly permitted in writing by the manufacturer.
- Do not install or use non-approved accessories, adapters, or attachments that are not specifically designed and rated for your lift model.
- Do not relocate or re-anchor equipment without consulting qualified professionals and following manufacturer guidance.
Dunfer is not responsible for injuries, damages, or failures arising from altered, misused, or improperly accessorized equipment.
10. Environmental & Workplace Considerations
The overall safety of your garage or shop environment extends beyond the equipment itself.
- Maintain adequate lighting, ventilation, and housekeeping around lifts and work areas.
- Keep floors clean, dry, and free from oil, debris, and obstructions that may create slip, trip, or impact hazards.
- Provide clear markings, signage, and barriers as needed to define lift areas and prevent unauthorized access.
